I am seeking sponsors for the upcoming circumnavigation on which my boat, Amnesty will be the flagship guiding a fleet of vessels carrying cancer survivors and some other folks who have been affected by cancer. This is expected to be a high profile event and I can offer prolonged and world wide exposure to sponsors; any interested parties can contact me directly by email. g.brown@live.com

We have founded a non profit to help cancer patients; donations from this web site will go to the non profit, this is not to assist us sailing around the world. Please help make a difference.

There is a brief video of the progress of building the Amnesty at

SPLASHDOWN!!!
Well, Monday’s launch was successful and went down without a hitch! Six and a half years of labor and over four decades of dreaming about this all came to reality in a single moment, there was no way to prepare for that. I will be putting the pictures of the launch and naming ceremony very soon, my heartfelt thanks for all who keep an interested eye out for us.
The big day is on the books!! Monday, Sept 14 Amnesty goes into the water for the first time, I will post some pictures of the launch day after nothing embarrasing happens. This day will mark the beginning of a seriously cool adventure and I will be able to share it with the rest of the world!! Thanks for your support, now watch what happens!Rigging day!And a new coat of paint!!Out of the woods......Boats shouldn't have to put up with this!

on-the-way-homeIt has certainly been an education finishing this boat! The pictures range from the day I brought it home to present, there are a lot of people looking forward to that first picture of it in the water!
I will certainly keep progress posted, the incredible journey is about to begin.

When I was diagnosed with prostate cancer I was taken back pretty hard; recently I have met many others who have endured so much more than I can imagine I began to feel like that guy who was sad because he had no shoes. Last week I met a man from Alaska, who has undergone big time treatments and bucked all the odds. This man reminded me of a piece of weathered teak, a little worn & grey around the edges but inside is strong and enduring and I could tell his journey is far from over.
My goal for this site is to be an inspiration for others, this man is the true inspiration and a shining example of the survivor spirit, just as the many others like him I haven’t met yet. It’s not often I stand humbled in the company of others, my deepest and most heartfelt prayers have been redirected from my personal concerns to Don and to all who come face to face with their mortality and decide that God has the final say, not a disease.

Boats aren't supposed to be covered in snow

Boats aren't supposed to be covered in snow

on-the-way-homeAfter hurricane season a fleet of boats will assemble in the Caribbean to begin the first ever Victory Lap, These boats will be carrying folks affected by cancer and start on the first leg of a trip around the world. This site is so we can share the trip with everyone who wants to live the trip vicariously.
My dream was always to build a boat and travel the world, five years ago I brought the empty hull of a forty-five foot sailboat home and began building my dream home inside. Last year I was diagnosed with a cancer, while it is still treatable the only time that word doesn’t draw terror is when you are talking about someone else. I decided that cancer was not going to steal my dream, in fact it made it bigger because now I get to share it with the world!
