We are looking for some interested folks who would like to sail along with us for whatever length of time works for you; there is no cost to join this cause, the exposure we get from this event will propel our cause into its proper status. Please contact Gordon for further details and tentative plans at g.brown@live.com

The exact date hasn’t been finalized but it will begin towards the end of Dec when we congregate for the send off party (Southern Fla seems to be a popular choice) and proceed west through the Panama Canal and all points west until we reach the Caribbean, this will probably take two and a half years so it is understood that all who wish to join this event will probably not make the entire trip but you are welcome to accompany us for as long as it works for you. See you there!

This is a place where you may place the name of someone battling cancer (or any threatening disease) that we can take a moment to send them a prayer, some good energy, or good wishes; however you like to phrase it let’s all send these folks our wishes for the best.

Since this venture started out as just a really neat thought a lot of people have become an active part in many ways to see it happen, from moral support like dragging my whining carcass off the couch and helping work on the boat to donating parts and funding. This is a good place to thank each and every one who is a part of the Victory Lap.

Since we’re all family I’m just going to use first names until I get permission to post anyone’s full name. Jim, Greg, Eric, Nanette, Alice, Henk, Bob, Tom

Thank God for people like you

As useful information arises it will be posted here; if you have suggestions please send them, they will be researched and appropriately placed. If you have a situation that you prefer not be posted to a public venue just send me an email and I’ll be happy to assist in any way possible.

Unfortunately there is more money in being sick than in being well, for this reason it is a wide belief that certain greed based pharmaceutical companies influence the FDA and try to squelch more affordable treatment options. After my diagnosis I did an exorbitant amount of research into alternative treatments, below are listed a few treatment options that bear investigation. Remember one thing, our uniqueness is one of our biggest assets as well as a serious detriment; what works well for one person may not be as effective for another.

Often for a biopsy antibiotics are prescribed (always for prostate biopsy) but one tidbit of information that is mostly neglected is that these antibiotics attack all the bacteria, even the helpful ones. This dramatically increases the risk of a different type of infection so when you have to take any type of antibiotic it is always a good idea to go pick up a bottle of acidophilus, this is the good bacteria that is also in yogurt.

Hydrogen peroxide has been known to effectively attack tumors; there are a number of ways to ingest it; food grade hydrogen peroxide is most widely suggested but it is tough to come by. Food grade peroxide is a 35% solution and if this is used should be diluted to a 3.5% solution. I just went to the local drug store and bought a bottle of hydrogen peroxide, check the ingredients and it is usually a 3% solution and distilled water. This can be put into bath water and absorbed through the skin or a few drops can be put in a glass of water and drank. I purchased a nasal pump, dumped the spray out & filled it with hydrogen peroxide and inhaled it through the mouth. If you use this method make certain that you don’t inhale it through the nose, just use it like an asthma inhaler.
Before you use this method or any other it is always a good idea to do some research and decide if this is right for you.

Laetrile is another treatment that is known to attack cancer, this comes from apricot seeds and it is unavailable to purchase in the U.S. It is available over the internet, www.apricotpower.com is the site I used to buy it from. There are a number of foods that contain laetrile, also known as vitamin B17. The big problem with laetrile is the cost, about a hundred dollars a bottle ($1 a pill) but apricot seeds are available in the U.S. and are much more affordable and can be found in a number of health food stores or at the web site above. Again, if you consider this option check it out thoroughly first.

Sea water, or the salt in sea water is also detrimental to cancer and there aren’t many warnings or complications with this form of treatment (except undertows) and it is relaxing as well.

Reiki has been a life saver for me, and I would advise it for anyone who desires to improve their health. A wonderful thing about Reiki is that you don’t have to believe in it for it to work. This modality of healing has long been shunned by the medical community however it is being accepted more in mainstream healing because of the overwhelming percentage of success behind its use. A few hospitals are even hiring Reiki practitioners to work on patients!

Ayurveda, known as the “science of life” in ancient Sanskrit, has been a key part of a comprehensive natural healthcare system in India and Sri Lanka for over 2000 years. The basic tenet of Ayurveda is that health conditions should be treated with holistic, natural therapies tailored to the needs of each individual. In addition to treating the physical body with Ayurvedic herbs, Ayurveda focuses on balancing the mind and spirit to achieve inner harmony.
Ayurveda teaches that each person is a blend of three doshas, or vital energies within the body - Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Each person is born with an optimal balance and a unique harmony among the three doshas. Later in life, negative health may arise from an imbalance in the three doshas - and the science of Ayurveda is used to bring back this essential harmony.
Unlike Western medicine which is typically used as a reactive mechanism to fight disease once it occurs, Ayurveda is used to strengthen and nourish the body before the advent of negative health conditions. Ayurvedic practitioners typically recommend a natural course of herbs, diet, exercise and meditation to bring harmony back to the individual. This may be accomplished with a regimen of detoxification/purging herbs to initially rid the body of negative toxins followed by beneficial herbs which focus on bringing the three doshas back into balance. In returning the mind, body and spirit back to its original dosha balance, Ayurvedic practitioners believe that an individual is better able to withstand future illnesses and adverse health conditions while living a more pleasant, harmonious life.

No, this isn’t one of those bogus internet gimmicks or tricks. I wrote a book that deals with balancing the emotions and reuniting the body, mind, and Spirit; this is a big step towards taking charge of your own health and well being. I had hopes of making a few bucks from this book however making a difference in the world is more important to me than making a profit. If you are interested in receiving this book simply drop me a line and I will be honored to send a copy via email. Everyone’s privacy will be respected and email address will not be added to any list. This book is formatted in Microsoft Word, to receive a copy free of any charge or cost send your request to g.brown@live.com and ask for a copy of “A matter of trust”

When I was diagnosed with prostate cancer I was taken back pretty hard; recently I have met many others who have endured so much more than I can imagine I began to feel like that guy who was sad because he had no shoes. Last week I met a man from Alaska, who has undergone big time treatments and bucked all the odds. This man reminded me of a piece of weathered teak, a little worn & grey around the edges but inside is strong and enduring and I could tell his journey is far from over.
My goal for this site is to be an inspiration for others, this man is the true inspiration and a shining example of the survivor spirit, just as the many others like him I haven’t met yet. It’s not often I stand humbled in the company of others, my deepest and most heartfelt prayers have been redirected from my personal concerns to Don and to all who come face to face with their mortality and decide that God has the final say, not a disease.
